This past week, while I wanted to hide in the open space (of my home) to integrate and process and just deal, I learned that it was healthier to step out, reach out and test it all out. I told the part of myself that wanted to crawl back into bed to try a different way. I made dinner for dear friends and met new ones for brunch. I even forced myself into a “not my sweats” outfit to head out for drinks with @lisafield12. We ended up meeting incredible, like-minded folks that became fast friends. We make these big life decisions for ourselves, but we do not have to make them alone. No one can make a last cut for you, but the support, encouragement and act of being seen by others is so crucial to feeling human and connected through it all.  Our people, intimate and new, constantly remind us why we made a decision and how we want to show up in this new space.

I want to know what gives you strength because it strengthens me. I want to hear your stories and share mine because it fosters community. While last cuts and following our inner knowing are certainly inside, solo jobs, we cannot do it alone. We need to know we are heard, seen and supported.  We take turns in this whole thing. We grab a hand. We extend a hand.  In this way we are all working together to uphold the spirit of last cuts.  We keep showing up for ourselves and, equally as important, for each other. This commitment inspires community and this community inspires commitment.

What was your last cut?
